Smart Magna

The multimedia project Stories of a Crisis explores the effects of the financial crisis in Greece through personal stories. Looking into the lives of different people in Greece and exploring together with them how the crisis has changed their lives brings a human perspective to a crisis that stays abstract in everyday news.

I was asked by Robert Lesser the Design/Art Director of CFO Magazine to photograph portraits for their “Green” issue.  I’ve never shot for the magazine before, so I was excited to do so because the publication has won many design awards.  Also, when he told me the story had to do with sustainability, that was right up my alley.  I always prefer to shoot portraits outdoors if possible.

MICHELLE NOLAN “For many of us, nature has provided inspiration, solace, joy and nourishment without asking for much in return.  We cannot be selfish in regards to this relationship.  For, like with all relationships where one gives and the other receives, it will eventually fade away.  And then where will we be?”

Concha Alonso Dubon: “Nature and our environment are the grounds for my memories, its light, its color, its smells…collecting earth with my fingers… and of course contemplate it observe it.  Since I am a child have  memories of the garden of my house, of the beach where I use to swim, and of the scent of  canes, the grass and the salt of the sea…it is when I remember these that I paint nostalgically”..
