| 1945 Vasso Psaraki born in Athens, Greece, February 1st.
1963-65 Three-years course at Vakalo School of Fine Arts.
1966-74 Art director at Pavlidis the oldest chocolate Firm. During this period I designed hundreds of product packages, aimed mainly in children, for circulation both in Greece and abroad. The wrapper of Lacta Milk Chocolate is still in circulation 36 years and I designed it.
1978 Illustrated my first children’s book (text by Niki Vourvouli)
1979-80 Taught typography and packaging at the Vakalo School of Fine Arts.
1982 Followed a 3 months course in handloom weaving at the Hellening National Handicrafts Organization (EOMEX), taught by the artist Anna Papadimitriou, where I specialized in tapestry work using hand-made natural dyes. This experience with colours drawn from nature had a decisive influence on my later work.
1986 & 2006 Greek candidate for the Hans Christian Andersen Prize.
Up to the present (2009) I have illustrated 56 books, 17 of which I wrote the texts as well. I have also designed a large number of books and cd covers, cards,posters and ex libris.
I have held seven individual exhibitions in Greece, one in Cyprus, 1 in Finland and one in Belarus.
I have also participated in numerous group of exhibitions in Greece and abroad: BIB, PREMI CATALONIA,GOLDEN PEN, TIBI(IRAN), LE IMMAGINI DELLA FANTASIA,BOLOGNA,TOKYO,BRNO,BEIJING, FRANKFURT,BOURG-WISSEM etc.
I have taken part in conferences and seminars in Greece, Slovakia, I ran, India, Finland and Cyprus.
At the invitation of the educational authorities, I have organized numerous creative workshops for children in schools both in the capital and the provinces, the success of which is testified by the host of letters received from both pupils and teachers.
I have also organized visual art workshops for children in Germany, Belarus and Korea.
I have been awarded prizes for my work in Greece and abroad:
1988 Award by the Greek section of IBBY for my illustrations in the book “Gianis the small dragon”
1989 Mention of honor by the Premia Europeo di Letteratura Giovanile “Pier Paolo Vergerio” to the category “Illustated Albums” for my illustrations in the book “ Leafy apartment house”
1991 Creation of the poster of IBBY for the International Children’s Books Day.
1993 Second Award of the Tehran International Biennale of illustrations (TIBI) for the cover of the book “It was and it was not”
1994 Award by the Ministry of Culture for my illustrations for the poster with the title “With a book I can….fly” for the promotion of the reading.
1997 Worked on the the costumes and scenery of the 14 TV episodes of a program titled “Fairy tales- Come to the magical world of books” produced by the Greek National Bookk Centre” and Ministry of Culture for the promotion of reading.
1999 State Award of the Greek Ministry of Culture for the illustrations in the book “The night visitor”
2003 Award by the Greek section of IBBY for my illustrations in the book “ I know songs to tell you”
2006 Honorary mention EVGE “Book Design”:” The wise book of Soumoutou”
2006 Honorary mention EVGE “Illustration”: “The wise book of Soumoutou”
2008 Honorary mention EVGE “Illustration”: “There goes the cat”
